Lafayette On Demand Service
New transit service – was identified from a needs assessment
Purpose is to fill in gaps of FlexRide
To start there will be 1 vehicle operated by Via
Chosen because clients are familiar with service
Will utilize Via’s call center and their web-based service & mobile app
FARE FREE!!
Will operate 7 days a week – 7am-8pm
Open to public, but focusing service to help older adults, people w/ disabilities, and people w/ low income
Service area will be Lafayette
Only have 1 vehicle to inter-town transportation would be difficult
Looking to expand or join FlexRide service areas after gathering some initial data
Funding
50% – DRCOG HST grant
50% – Boulder County transit & trails sales tax
Will be applying for a 2nd year of funding as it often takes awhile for people to recognize a new service and get used to using it
Goal is to start services mid-July
RTD updates
Access a Ride is resuming evaluations at this time
Full update to be given at July meeting
Via
120-150 trips per day being given
This is slowly increasing, but still lower than normal
Mainly delivering groceries
Hoping to keep this service available even as things start to open up
2020 Ridership survey
17% response rate
Respondents primarily live in Boulder and Longmont
Respondents primarily 70+ demographic
44% of respondents use the Via service at least once per week
Saw that Door-through-door service is essential
Respondents happiest with the drivers, most unhappy about not having the pickup time options they want and limited night and weekend services
#1 thing respondents would like to see in the future is same day ride requests and #2 is weekend and night service
