Clear Creek & Gilpin County LCC Meeting Highlights

October 8, 2026

Key Discussion Highlights

– DRMAC Programs and Resources: An overview was provided of DRMAC’s services, including the Getting There Guide and App, Information & Assistance Center, Getting There Travel Training, Tech Training, Transit to Table, and Next Ride Forward.

– Transportation Barriers Identified: Participants highlighted limited transportation providers, funding shortages, challenges sustaining rural transportation systems, limited administrative capacity, and a lack of reliable transportation to employment.

– Communities Experiencing the Greatest Barriers: Older adults, people with disabilities, low-income residents, individuals experiencing homelessness, households without vehicles, youth, and local workforce members were identified as particularly affected.

– Transportation Service Gaps: Participants identified limited access in Idaho Springs, Empire, Dumont, and remote county areas, along with challenges traveling to Denver Metro for healthcare and other essential services. The high cost of wheelchair-accessible transportation was also raised.

– Existing Transportation Resources: RoundAbout, local town shuttles, Bustang, Pegasus, VOA, and Greyhound were identified as existing transportation options. Participants emphasized the importance of connecting these resources and improving awareness.

– Funding and Service Sustainability: Concerns included potential shuttle service reductions due to funding, limited volunteer drivers, and the need for additional transportation options such as rideshare, taxis, and gas vouchers.

– Regional Collaboration: Members discussed the importance of strengthening partnerships between transportation providers, local governments, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and community stakeholders to address transportation gaps collectively.
