Prospector Bus Hits All-Time Record

Sept. 5, 2019 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek County’s Prospector Bus had a
record 547 riders last month (August), beating the previous record of 477 riders in July 2019. In addition
to the new record, ridership (through August 2019) is on track to pass all of 2018 numbers (2,986). As of
Aug. 30, 2019, 2,799 riders have taken the County’s Prospector bus this year.
“From our dedicated riders, great drivers and sponsors, we want to thank everyone for their support in
making this historic month happen,” said John Bryan, County Communications and Prospector Director.
“Our goal for 2019 was 3,400 riders, and we are well on our way to passing that,” he added.
In June 2018, the Prospector expanded its hours, adding a morning and afternoon loop with stops in
Georgetown, Empire, Dumont (Post Office), and Idaho Springs. The schedule also ties in to the
BUSTANG Idaho Springs stop/schedule, which is the CDOT-operated “…interregional bus line connecting
Colorado cities and local transit with a single service…” https://www.codot.gov/travel/bustang

Fares run $1 (in-town), $2 (town-town), and a 50% discount for seniors, students and children. Books of

‘10’ tickets can be purchased from the bus drivers for $10—one ticket is good for any length of a one-
way trip, saving riders money.

The Prospector runs Monday – Friday (no weekends), and is equipped with a hydraulic lift for special
needs and two wheelchair accessible spots. Popular stops include: the Hotel de Paris, Idaho Springs
Ride Stop, Town of Empire, the CHPG Clinic-Idaho Springs, and the Safeway in Idaho Springs.
