Coronavirus update on 9Health Fairs

For the last 40 years, 9Health and 9NEWS have maintained a unique partnership focused on keeping Colorado healthy through preventive care and health awareness. Today, we are taking proactive steps to bring our community together and share information to keep Colorado healthy amid growing public interest in COVID-19, otherwise known as the coronavirus.

We have made the decision to postpone the spring 9Health Fairs while pursuing options for alternate screening opportunities. We are working together with our partners to implement the following:

➔ 9NEWS and 9Health will be hosting virtual town halls to help the community separate fact from fiction. Our approach is “facts not fiction,” which means carefully vetting information, focusing on facts and providing context and perspective. We will use interactive Q&A, social media and other digital channels to answer questions and empower the community.

➔ 9Health is pursuing alternative screening options. We know that Colorado communities across the state rely on the 9Health Fair for free/affordable health screenings. In the wake of postponing our spring fairs to later this year, we are looking into options that allow 9Health Fair attendees to continue to receive the same levels of health awareness. We will provide additional information as soon as it is available. If you have already registered for a 9Health Fair, we will send you information via email in the coming days about your options.

➔ We are launching a 9Health-specific digital site. This public-facing digital site—https://www.9healthfair.org/news/coronavirus-covid-19/— will keep the general public and 9Health Fair volunteers up-to-speed with information, virtual town halls, new fair dates, and other information on keeping Colorado healthy.

➔ Through this partnership, we will keep the public informed. 9NEWS is our committed partner in helping us inform the community on the facts and steps people can take to stay healthy. Together we have launched a new 9Health expert, Dr. Payal Kohli, and you will get to know her well in the coming weeks as we increase her presence on all 9NEWS and 9Health platforms.

Most importantly, we remain committed to our mission of advancing health awareness across Colorado and providing people with the tools they need to take responsibility for their own health. With the initiatives outlined in this plan, we are moving swiftly, but thoughtfully, to ensure we play a leading role in keeping Colorado healthy together.
