Gratitude in Action: A Volunteer’s Thanks

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your help with my class this semester. Your kindness, flexibility, and understanding meant the world to me, and I’m so grateful for all the effort you put into helping me complete my volunteer hours.” -DRMAC Volunteer

Opening Doors to Care: Finding the Way to the Dentist

DRMAC supported G over several weeks to access dental care after she received a grant but had little notice for her first appointment and no affordable transportation options. With DRMAC’s coaching and her family’s help, she rescheduled and applied for Access-a-Ride, RTD’s paratransit service. This helped provide her with a low-cost, reliable option for future dental visits and other essential trips.

More Than a Ride: Finding Relief, Joy, and Support

A past travel training participant shared that they are having extensive medical testing that their insurance does not cover. She shared that “Uber through Access-a-Ride/RTD is a life-saver for me as it covers the transportation to and from these appointments… without the Uber benefit, I would probably just sit at home and not enjoy going to “positive, spirit lifting “ FREE music shows that are helping me cope with the stress… You really make difference in people’s lives!” -Roxanne, DRMAC Travel Training Participant

SliA Ride to Safety: Empowering a New Beginning

Thanks to the generous support from Uber, DRMAC was able to schedule a ride for a victim of domestic violence. Without it, they wouldn’t have been able to get to the airport and safely leave the state.

Small Wins, Big Impact: Neighbors on the Move

“Good news, 2 new people were on the Via bus to King Soopers this morning. We could say we doubled the number of riders today. Success no matter how we talk about the numbers. Thank you for helping my neighbors” -Information & Assistance Caller

Guiding the Way: Empowering Independence Through Information

“Transportation is consistently one of the top three challenges older adults face, and that’s why the Getting There Guide from DRMAC has been such an invaluable resource in my work. Many of the older adults I work with are unaware that transportation solutions even exist for them, and having the Getting There Guide available to share with them has been instrumental. While I don’t often hear back from individuals after providing resources, I have had several occasions where older adults have told me that accessing the Getting There Guide and understanding their transportation options significantly improved their quality of life.

The work DRMAC does, especially by providing these guides, is making a lasting impact in our community. It’s empowering older adults to regain their independence and navigate transportation solutions that they might not have otherwise known about. I’m grateful for the work DRMAC is doing and the positive changes they are helping to create.” -Susana, Community Partner

Freedom to Thrive: Gaining Independence Through Transit

“I’m so thankful for what your program has done for me, to let me get out a little bit, not worry and have to beg people for rides all the time and get out and just have more of a life and not spend so much money on transportation. It’s really made a difference in my life”- Travel Training Participant

Empowering Independence: Positive Impact of Travel Training

“We have received nothing but positive feedback from our DRMAC participants regarding both the in-house travel training classes and the external field trip. In fact, just today, someone approached our front desk and asked when we were offering the DRMAC classes again.

Many seniors today wish to remain independent yet feel trapped and isolated because of transportation issues. Teaching seniors how to navigate transportation options empowers them, equips them with the tools they need to remain independent and attend doctor appointments, and encourages socialization.” -Drenea, Community Partner on Travel Training

A Shared Commitment: Enhancing Senior Independence Through Accessible Transportation

“The program spearheaded by DRMAC, and the Active Adult Center has been a resounding success, evidenced by the tangible improvements in seniors’ ability to access transportation services. Through educational sessions and hands-on instruction, participants have gained confidence and independence in utilizing various transportation modes, thereby enhancing their overall quality of life, and fostering greater community engagement.

DRMAC’s dedication to advocating for inclusive and accessible transportation solutions is commendable. Their proactive approach and willingness to collaborate with community partners exemplify their commitment to addressing the unique needs of seniors and promoting equitable access to transportation resources.”- Marisa, Community Partner on DRMAC Travel Trainings
