Message to Denver’s Disability Community from Denver Division of Disability Rights
The Director and ADA Coordinator from the Denver Division of Disability Rights have been working closely with Mayor Michael B. Hancock and his administration related to Denver’s response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Our goal is to ensure the disability community is considered in all aspects of planning, communication, and mitigating this situation.
The City and County of Denver is aligning with the revised Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines recommending that gatherings of 50 people or more be postponed or canceled for the next eight weeks in response to the COVID-19 virus. The order also includes the closure of all restaurants and bars, except airport concessioners, to onsite seating, effective 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, for eight weeks until May 11. Delivery, carry-out and drive-through services are still permitted and encouraged. The Denver Department of Public Health & Environment will continuously monitor the situation. Please review the attached press release for additional information and resources.
We encourage everyone to follow Denvergov.org for additional up-to-date information and announcements pertaining to the latest news on Coronavirus in conjunction with local, state, and federal partners.
Additionally, if you or someone you know is in need of property tax relief, please visit the following site: Property Tax Relief (open to all Denver renters and homeowners who lived in their home all of the last year. You may qualify if you are an individual who turned 65 or older last year, is living with a disability, or owns your home and has at least one child who lives with you.) – https://www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/denver-human-services/be-supported/additional-assistance/property-tax-refund-program.html
Feel free to share this information with your networks. If others are interested in being added to the Division of Disability Rights’ community listserv, please have them send their name and email address to the ADA Coordinator at DisabilityAccess@denvergov.org.
Finally, if situations specific to the disability community arise that our division should be made aware of, please email DisabilityAccess@denvergov.org.
Kind regards,
