ACPD presented 5 ADA Hero Awards for drivers and dispatch personnel who have demonstrated an exceptional performance.
The Regional Leadership Academy presented their project to collect ridership data for riders using Access-a-Ride. Data will be used to identify para-transit needs.
ACPD encouraged RTD to provide signage for high-block entrance on light rail trains. Hope is to discourage people using ramp that is designed to accommodate people with mobility issues.
ACPD recommended RTD to educate riders on how to identify late or cancelled routes through media and communication devices. Some of the tools identified (but not limited to):

- Citizenship question will NOT be on 2020 census
- 3 THINGS TO REMEMBER
- It’s easy
- 9 questions total
- Given in 13 languages (upon request)
- 3 ways to answer – online (1st time this is offered), phone, mail
- 3% are mailed an extensive survey called The American Community Survey – this one is long but important as it gives a look at country’s demographics
- It’s safe
- Title 13 of US code protects your information (census workers take oaths)
- Information can only be used by Dept. of Commerce
- They can not give your information to ANY other government entity
- Information is held in confidence for 72 years before released
- If concerned about cyber security – there are other ways to reply
- It’s important
- Funding decisions are made with this census
- It’s in our constitution
- Need to know the number for many reasons. More population equals congressional seats…equals political power
- We need to know the demographics of our community if we’re going to properly serve it
- Remember:
- Everyone counts – count your babies

- Dates:
- Mailing begins 3/12/20
- 4/1/20 is the reference day
- Have until 7/31/20 to self-respond
- Deadline 12/31/20 to give results to the President
- Douglas County will have “safe sites” where older adults can go to have a trusted person help them fill out the forms

Do you have older adults who would like to have a volunteer deliver a Thanksgiving meal on 11/21/19? The Colorado Gerontological Society is partnering with Charles Schwab and PF Chang’s to deliver Thanksgiving meals this year. Please call 303-333-3482 with names of individuals or families who would like to receive a Thanksgiving meal.
Through our research, we hope to provide the county with information to inform their short & long-term planning around respite, inclusive programming, safety net services, etc. and provide recommendations to improve opportunities for populations who are aging with a disability in Douglas County.
Let Douglas County know your needs as you or someone you care for ages with a disability. We appreciate any feedback from the whole of Douglas County, but we are specifically interested in the Highlands Ranch & Santa Fe corridor.
