Many people think the only Americans regularly relying on transit to reach jobs and services live in big cities. Yet the majority of counties with high rates of zero-car households are rural. In fact, more than one million households in predominantly rural counties do not have access to a vehicle. Rural Americans without cars face unique barriers and they deserve a tailored approach to their transit needs rather than just assuming they can or will drive everywhere. Read more

PCTC Meeting
Date: 5/11/2020 at 1:00pm-2:30pm
Non-medical transportation companies are lacking in necessary supplies to establish and maintain safe working/driving conditions. Gloves, masks, and sanitizers are needed. Members of PCTC have been contacting elected officials and Colorado’s Healthcare Policy And Finance Program to create action. Within the past few months of this year, PTCT has been trying to encourage Colorado’s Healthcare Policy and Finance Program to establish a community centered board, which would help funnel all of these concerns to the proper channels, so everyone can be heard. Due to their efforts, PTCT was able to help get the community board established, and is now looking for viable candidates to be members.
Secondly, to enforce safe service delivery, PTCT believes one way to get the message out is through the Governor. They would like him to address the safety concerns at a press conference. If you have any feedback to add, want to be considered for the community board, or want to participate in the next meeting, which is being held on June 8, 2020, contact Meghan Carrier at Meghan@togetherco.org.
CDHS Board Meeting:
Date: 5/8/2020 at 8:36am
Board Members present: 9
Title of Rule: Disability Navigator for the Aid to the Needy Disabled – State Only ( And- SO) Program
Vote: 2nd reading, and passed with a unanimous vote of 9.
The rationale behind this rule addition is to add language pursuant to HB19-1223 which creates a program to help clients applying for or receiving Aid to the Needy Disabled – State Only (AND- SO) apply for federal disability benefits. AND-SO provides interim assistance to adults with disabilities while they pursue federal disability benefits. The program created with HB19-1223 establishes a program that offers navigation services to assist this population with the federal disability application and appeal process. The rules will outline county requirements for operating the program, information about evaluation, and language around the allocation. Effective date will be 7/1/2020.
Next Meeting is on June 12, 2020 at 8:30am via telecast.
