The Jefferson County LCC met via Zoom from 1:30-3:30. The meeting started with introductions of attendees and then Zamy Silva, RTD Civil Rights Senior Manager, gave updates about her department at RTD. Zamy gave an overview of how she started in her role and what the role of her department is. She also informed the group that they are currently interviewing candidates for a new ADA Coordinator. There was also discussion about RTD having more involvement with the LCC, and Zamy talked about having herself or a representative from RTD at the monthly meetings.
The council was introduced to Marjorie Sloan, RTD Board of Directors, District M. She is wanting to focus on the transit-reliant population. LCC members were also introduced to Andy Kerr, Jefferson County Commissioner, who is an advocate for bicycles and is looking to improve multi-modal transportation in the county. He also realizes that the county’s first and last mile deficits are currently preventing people from using RTD services.
Karin Stewart from Jefferson County Human Services closed the meeting with an update on the Age Friendly Jefferson County Project. Karin and the committee have put together 6 goals and have been working on action plans for each goal. Karin has sent out this information to the council for review and the information has also been added to Live Binders.
