Now that HB21-1318 is law, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) are eager for recommendations to the Board of the Outdoor Equity Grant Program. Right now, we are seeking eight volunteers to help assist in the vetting of Board Candidates. To be clear, individuals selected for this committee will not be eligible for this round of board appointments. If you are interested in volunteering for the board member selection committee, which will work with DNR/CPW to select the board members, enter your name here.
Though DNR and CPW are not yet accepting applications for people who might like to be on the actual Board of the Outdoor Equity Grant Program, we are accepting recommendations of people the community might like to see nominated to the Board. If you would like to nominate someone for one of the youth seats on the board, enter that information here. If you would like to nominate someone for one of the non-youth seats on the board, enter that information here.

Easy Ride is currently at a standstill and someone at DRCOG is looking into next steps to get Ride Alliance back up and running. They are done with meals on wheels and grocery box delivery. Still disinfecting and wearing masks. Ridership is increasing with the opening of senior centers and other places that were closed due to COVID
Flex Ride should be getting second bus back online by August. There is a shortage of bus drivers that is impacting the number of rides given. Flex Ride is a curb to curb service that serves all residents of all ages and abilities. They are working with RTD to include a few point deviations to go outside of the normal routes to specific destinations. Saturday service is now operational 9am-6pm.

DRCOG Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) June 28, 2021
There was a presentation on federal money that’s been set aside for non-infrastructure transportation demand management projects. Another presentation followed on the Unified Planning Work Program for the Denver Region for 2022-2023. There is $500K for 2022 and $1.5M for 2023.
Discussion continued on to shared micromobility in the Denver Region (electric and non-electric bikes & scooters).There were around 20M trips taken in 2020 with a median distance of .87 miles. There is a micromobility work group that was meeting monthly & now meets quarterly.
Discussion moved to potential revisions to the Metro Vision performance measures & targets. DRCOG wants to add sections on transit quality and comfort of transit options. There is not data, yet, on greenhouse gas emission and waiting on Reimagine RTD to add metrics for transit comfort. Still need to find metrics for micromobility comfort. The final section was on 2024-2027 TIP policy elements: project scoring and project readiness and that generated the most discussion.
Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging (SAPGA) Regional Meeting June 22, 2021
The goal for this meeting was to learn what the southwest communities’ issues are. There were 3 attendees from those communities, and they expressed specific problems their communities were experiencing.
Jarrett Hughes, Governor’s Senior Policy Advisor on Aging, spoke about the Lifelong Colorado State Plan. They are working across agencies, local governments, faith-based groups to support families as the population ages.
Speaker Lorrie Valencia, Southwest Center for Independence, spoke of how they’re helping persons with disabilities lead independent lives, includes seniors. This was work on reservations.
Lisa Sullivan, Community Engagement Office of NextFifty Initiative told us they were a private grant-making organization. They have opportunities now for the Community Response Fund that are focused on rural nonprofits.
