CLEAR CREEK LOCAL COORDINATING COUNCIL (LLC) – APRIL 21, 2021
The Clear Creek Local Coordinating Council meet virtually on Wednesday April 21 at 11:30. The group talked about the summer program that the Clear Creek Metro Recreation District will be offering – lots of youth will be riding the new Roundabout. That led right into more talk about the new service – Clear Creek has rebranded their bus service as The Roundabout – with new “wraps” on the buses, new route maps, new signage, and more. Trips to the closest Walmart between 1:00 and 3:30 Monday thru Thursday have been added, and there is talk of BrewPub tours! The work with CCMRD is only one of their many new initiatives. The VOA reminded us all that they do provide rides to the VA Hospital. Residents can also look at ClearCreekVaccine.com for local information on COVID19 shots. 5 of the county staff will be attending the Spring CASTA conference in Estes Park – several of the other attendees will be there as well. The group also discussed CDOT’s upcoming I70 service tentatively named Pegasus – it will use a fleet of 12 electric 15 passenger BOCs to run in the shoulder lanes along I70. The next meeting will be held virtually, on Wednesday May 19th at 11:30 – contact asmith@clearcreekcounty.us for a link to the meeting. It is open to the public.

Q: What about school transportation?
A: Very expensive to provide this. Community liaisons are serving mobile home parks / children not in RTD 2.5 mile radius.
(Comment: Landon Hilliard and Amy Thompson from Safe Routes to School are asking to have this conversation prior to next school year.)
Boulder County/ RTD Accountability Committee: Fare and pass recommendations
Alex Hyde-Wright (email Ahyde-wright@bouldercounty.org)
Staff suggestions to RTD included:
Fares: eliminate regional fare- make finding MyRide purchase options easier and then make non cash fares cheaper than cash; Change discount fares and qualifying LiVE fares free. Form pass programs- to prevent double paying for fares. Add monthly pay as you go option. Consolidate EcoPass into one business/ neighborhood to combat free fares and lost revenue.
Parking: charge for parking at all RTD lots, tiering parking fees based on proximity. Allow organizations to determine if they want to pay for parking for employees
Small groups: MAC (Mobility and Access Coalition-new name for Boulder LCC) redesign brainstorming session/ MAC mission statement.
Next Meeting: May 12, 2021 from 2:00-4:00PM
A couple of years ago, Tim De Chant wanted a deep freezer, so he could more easily manage grocery shopping and meal prep for a growing family. As a science journalist and lecturer at MIT, he was conscious of how much energy freezers suck when they’re running around the clock, and wanted to minimize its carbon footprint.
Masks are a crucial way to decrease the spread of COVID-19, but these mouth-and-nose coverings cause a few nuisances, including fogged-up eyeglasses. When it’s cold, your breath puffing up through the top of the mask clouds the lenses, especially when you go from the chilly outside to the warmer indoors and the mask isn’t tight around your face. The effect is similar to how a hot shower’s steam fogs up a cool bathroom mirror.
